Khalid’s “Young, Dumb, & Broke” Video Is An Ode To Senior Superlatives & Young Love

It features stars from ‘Saved By The Bell’ and ‘She’s All That.’

Khalid’s hits explore young love, growing up, and the highs and lows of high school, all of which are reflected in his new video for his song “Young, Dumb, & Broke.” Filmed in an actual high school, it captures the lighthearted spirit of senior year, with kitschy versions of a principal, a cafeteria worker, and a janitor.

The video features some actors from classic TV shows centered around high school, like Dennis Haskins from Saved By The Bell and Rachael Leigh Cook from She’s All That. It also includes stars like Wayne Brady and Normani Kordei from Fifth Harmony. Khalid spotlights different characters in the video with typical senior superlatives like ‘Class Clown’ and ‘Teacher’s Pet.’

In an annotation, Khalid explained how his high school experienced inspired a few lines on the second verse:

Khalid’s debut album American Teen spawned hits like “Location” and “Saved,” which each racked up millions of SoundCloud streams when they dropped almost a year ago. His first album deals with being a teenager in El Paso, Texas and brought him into the spotlight as an R&B and pop singer. He has since collaborated with Logic, Kendrick Lamar, and Calvin Harris.
