Kid Cudi Was Afraid Eminem Would Body Him On “The Adventures Of Moon Man & Slim Shady”

“I was nervous.”

Kid Cudi marked a major career milestone last week with the release of his first Eminem collaboration, “The Adventures of Moon Man & Slim Shady.” He stopped by Lil Wayne’s Young Money Radio show over the weekend to discuss the song. During the conversation, the Cleveland rapper revealed that he was worried Em would body him on the track, but he was so excited about the prospect of the collaboration that he didn’t mind.

“He sent it right back, and man, I got him on the phone. I had to tell him, ‘Yo, bro, you f-cking destroyed this sh-t,’” Cudi said. “I was nervous because I’m like, ‘I’m gonna get Eminem on my song, and he gonna body me on my own sh-t?’ But I was like f-ck it. I just want a joint with Em.”

Wayne commiserated, noting that he’s always been blown away by their past collaborations. “Trust me, I know the feeling. I’ve sent a few to him and got the results back, and you just gotta go ahead and accept it,” Wayne said.

“The Adventures of Moon Man & Slim Shady” grabbed headlines for Em’s bars about the controversy around New Orleans Saints Quarterback Drew Brees, COVID-19, the murder of George Floyd, and more. Cudi also opened up about his 2016 stint in rehab for depression and suicidal urges:

Years ago, rehab
All good, helped me figure out another plan
It got bad, so bad
Nah, I ain’t f-cking love that, man

In his conversation with Wayne, Cudi advised anyone struggling with mental health to face their issues head-on.

“It’s important to go through the emotions of what you’re feeling,” he said. “Don’t try to bottle things up, but face what you’re dealing with and get through it. The moments are passing. In the moment, it may feel like your world is crumbling, but you will get through that. It’s just a moment that will pass.”

“The Adventures of Moon Man & Slim Shady” is set to have a big debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart next week. Cudi recently earned the first No. 1 hit of his career with the Travis Scott collaboration, “THE SCOTTS.” It remains to be seen if he can pick up another chart-topper in 2020.
