The song racked up multiple nominations at the 2017 Grammys.

Adele’s mega-ballad “Hello” made waves the moment it was released in October 2015. It was the first fans heard from her since the 2011 sophomore album 21, and the song immediately hit No. 1 on the Billboard 100. It’s nominated for Song Of The Year and Record Of The Year at the 2017 Grammys. She just took home the Grammy for Pop Solo Performance and 25 won for best Pop Vocal Album.

One thing you couldn’t help but notice, however, was the song’s shared title and similar lyrics to Lionel Richie’s 1983 classic, “Hello.”

Adele’s song begins with the line:

Hello, it’s me

However, Richie’s track uses the lines:

Hello, is it me you’re looking for?

While the lines are not identical, it didn’t stop an outpour of internet chatter.

Adele got in on the joke, too. In an interview with BBC1, she said: “We’ve definitely got to do something, me and Lionel.”
