Hear A Snippet Of “Life Of Mr. Carter” From Lil Wayne’s ‘Tha Carter V’

The album still has no release date.

Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V is still nowhere in sight, but snippets of its songs keep finding their way onto the internet. The latest is a 30-second clip of the track “Life of Mr. Carter.” Although the sound quality isn’t great—it was originally broadcasted by Young Money signee Poppy Holden on VidMe—it’s the first time any portion of this song has been available.

Wayne spits about loyalty and his dream wife on the song:

Especially when these hoes ain’t right, these hoes ain’t loyal
Shit, what’s wrong or right? And what’s the order?
I know this AK will get your face retarded
I’ll be a-okay as long as my wife can cook a quarter
Type of shit I won’t take for granted

The title “Life of Mr. Carter” appeared on a tentative tracklist for Tha Carter V back in 2014:

“Life of Mr. Carter” is one of several Carter V snippets to surface in the last few months. Mannie Fresh shared a two-minute clip of the track “Start This Shit Off Right” back in December, and Martin Shkreli recently previewed the song “Just Chill” featuring Justin Bieber on a VidMe broadcast. Shkreli purchased a full copy of the long-awaited project from an anonymous source, but recently said he won’t be leaking it or sharing any more of the album publicly.

Birdman sounded optimistic about Tha Carter V’s release during his recent appearance on Travis Scott’s .wav Radio show. “Carter V coming out. It’s definitely coming out,” he said. “The situation with me and my son, I’ma put all that behind us and just let it move forward.” Unfortunately Birdman has been saying roughly the same thing for the past several years without much change. There’s no telling when the Tha Carter V will actually drop; at this rate the whole album may just leak in bits and pieces.
