Iggy Azalea Responds To Being Named On Eminem’s “Killshot”

“Diss songs shouldn’t be filled with celebrity name drops to pad out lazy bars.”

While Eminem’s “Killshot” was aimed largely at Machine Gun Kelly, the Detroit MC did drag a few other artists into the fray, including Iggy Azalea who shared her thoughts about the inclusion on Twitter.

On “Killshot,” Eminem accuses MGK of not being in the class of rappers like JAY-Z and The Notorious B.I.G., instead being more of a pop star. He raps:

You ain’t never made a list next to no Biggie, no Jay
Next to Taylor Swift and that Iggy ho, you about to really blow
Kelly, they’ll be putting your name
Next to Ja, next to Benzino—die, motherfucker!

Like many people who have dissed Eminem, including Machine Gun Kelly on his track “Rap Devil,” Azalea professed that she was a fan of his music but has been disappointed by his recent output.

She also alluded to earlier songs where Eminem’s penchant for namedropping came off as provocative, whereas now she feels it is uninspired and more about matching syllables. Some of his biggest tracks, including “The Real Slim Shady” and “My Name Is” were heavy on celebrity references, a trend that has carried into his later career.

Eminem also mentioned Azalea on the Kamikaze opener “The Ringer” in a string of bars indicting other MCs, including MGK. He rapped:

So finger-bang, chicken wang, MGK, Igg' Azae'
Lil Pump, Lil Xan imitate Lil Wayne
I should aim at everybody in the game, pick a name

Iggy Azalea and Machine Gun Kelly are just two of Eminem’s targets on Kamikaze, and Genius explored them all in the video below.

Azalea recently released her Survive the Summer EP, and opened up to GQ about the precarious state of her career.
