August Alsina May Be Hinting At An Affair With Jada Pinkett Smith In The Video For His “Nunya” Remix

The video references her middle name while the song addresses a failed relationship.

In late March, August Alsina dropped a remix of Kehlani’s “Nunya” which addressed a relationship that had gone south. The song’s lyric video, depicted as a text conversation between Alsina and the unnamed woman, gave the song a bit more context, and now some fans are convinced that he’s singing about an affair with Jada Pinkett Smith.

Alsina appeared on Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk show last year to talk about his recent struggles with addiction issues, liver disease, and raising his nieces after the death of his sister. He’s previously explained that the Smith family had been helping him through his struggles, particularly Jada. On her 47th birthday, he even referred to her as “love personified,” and his “Nunya” remix seems to point at a more serious relationship between them.

The song’s lyric video depicts a conversation with “Koren,” which happens to be Jada Pinkett Smith’s middle name. Alsina also uses a GIF of her during the conversation, just as he sings lyrics about an actress:

You got me feeling like it was an act, you’re just an actress
Putting on a show ‘cause you don’t want the world to know
That you lost a man who loved you all along
Baby, couldn’t we just let this go?

The two no longer follow each other on social media, prompting some fans to speculate that they had a falling out. If so, his allusions to their alleged romance aren’t exactly subtle.

Pinkett Smith is married to actor and rapper Will Smith. On an episode of Red Table Talk last year, the couple opened up about rough patches in their marriage, and said they had to “throw away the concept” and start over a few years ago with new rules.
