XO artist NAV dropped his new single “Some Way” today, linking up with The Weeknd for their first song together. The track is self-produced by NAV, and is expected to appear on his upcoming project, which drops sometime this month.
On the chorus, The Weeknd sings about stealing someone’s girl. Although he doesn’t mention anyone by name, he’s currently involved with Selena Gomez, who used to date Justin Bieber:
I just took that chick, and I know you feelin' some way
She just want a nigga like me, you feelin' some way
She just want a nigga like me, I play no way
He addresses the same topic later on:
I think your girl, think your girl, fell in love with me
She say my fuck and my tongue game a remedy
Justin has taken several shots at the XO boss recently, calling his music “wack” earlier this month and joking about liking The Weeknd’s song “Starboy.” It’s also worth noting that NAV is best know for producing and appearing on Travis Scott’s song “Beibs in the Trap,” which uses Justin’s nickname as a reference for cocaine.
The Weeknd also sings about ignoring apology phone calls:
Dress up your talk if a nigga wanna talk to me
Fuck your phone calls, I don’t want apologies
This line is less explicit, but could be a reference to PARTYNEXTDOOR, who recently said on Instagram Live that he called The Weeknd to apologize for dissing him on the song “Options.”
