Dreamville’s 2019 compilation album, Revenge of the Dreamers III, is already certified Gold, and J. Cole is celebrating with a music video release. The Dreamville boss recruited EARTHGANG, Smino, and Saba for the label’s new “Sacrifices” video, the final song on Revenge of the Dreamers III.
The clip finds the group of rappers wandering an abandoned building, and is dedicated to “Milton Ahdwele Fann and to all those who have passed on.”
“Sacrifices” is produced by Henny (Tha Bizness) and Groove, and is one of the project’s most popular songs on Genius. It’s racked up over 335,000 pageviews as well as more than six million Spotify streams. Earthgang’s Johnny Venus delivers a pair of verses and chorus to start off the track with a reflection on the costs of stardom:
I make sacrifices, bloody sacrifices
Cutthroat, rabbit’s toe, I suppose
Maybe that’s what life is
Revenge of the Dreamers III dropped on July 5, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. A deluxe edition of the project is still forthcoming, according to a July announcement from Dreamville president Ibrahim Hamad.
