James Fauntleroy & J. Prince Come To Drake’s Defense In His Beef With Pusha-T

J. Prince says he told Drake not to respond to “The Story of Adidon.”

Although Kanye West declared Drake and Pusha-T’s beef “dead now,” other musicians aren’t done weighing in. Rap-A-Lot Records CEO J. Prince, whose son Jas Prince discovered Drake on MySpace and helped him ink a deal with Cash Money, recently discussed the issue with DLTR Radio. During the interview, J. Prince revealed that he personally called Drake and told him not to respond to Pusha’s “The Story of Adidon.”

“I feel like for a man to attack a man’s mother, his father, a man that’s dying, I feel like that’s disrespectful,” J. Prince said, referencing jabs Pusha took at Drake’s parents Sandi and Dennis Graham as well as producer Noah “40” Shebib, who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis. Although many other rappers have gone to similar lengths as Pusha on their diss tracks, J. Prince went on to explain that he didn’t want Drake to drag himself down into the “pig pen” of petty beef:

Imagine we got into a fight and I go whoop your momma’s ass, I hit your daddy in the jaw. I call it a pig pen mentality. I spoke with Drake, I made an OG call with Drake this morning saying ‘I don’t want you to respond to this. We gonna put this to bed.’ We can’t get into the pig pen with pigs. Because pigs turn into hogs and hogs get slaughtered. That’s not his character. We ain’t work this hard to cheat ourselves over nothing.

TMZ reported that Drake already had a diss track recorded before he got the call from J. Prince. In a subsequent interview with Sway in the Morning, J. Prince claimed that the song could have “ended” someone’s career, although it’s not entirely clear if he’s talking about Pusha or Kanye. “I saw this going in a place that I feel it would have ended his career if Drake were to put out the song he had on him. And definitely would have hurt families. We’re not in it for that. That’s not Drake’s character.”

Although J. Prince positions Drake with the moral high ground, it is worth noting that the OVO boss previously took shots at Kid Cudi’s mental health on “Two Birds, One Stone” while the Cleveland rapper was in rehab for depression and suicidal thoughts.

J. Prince wasn’t the only one to weigh in on the beef, either. Singer-songwriter James Fauntleroy, who has worked with Drake, Pusha, and Kanye in the past, caused a stir by calling Pusha a “snitch” and claiming Kanye is heavily reliant upon others to create his music:

With both Kanye and J. Prince indicating that the beef is dead, it seems unlikely that Drake will respond. After all, he’s already missed the four-day deadline he gave Meek Mill on “Back to Back.” Pusha-T has continued to antagonize his opponent, however, claiming last Thursday that Drake is offering people cash for information:
