Juice WRLD’s Girlfriend Explains Why “Man Of The Year” Was Updated On Streaming Services

“So much was done to make it how he wanted it.”

On Tuesday, Juice WRLD fans began to notice a new version of one of his recently released posthumous songs, “Man of the Year,” was uploaded to streaming services. The late rapper’s girlfriend, Ally Lotti, confirmed the change to the second verse while responding to a fan’s tweet.

She explained that “so much was done” to respect Juice WRLD’s wishes:

On the original album version of the Legends Never Die cut, the Chicago native celebrates his love for Lotti:

Buzzin' like I’m Lightyear, infinity and beyond
Big headed, in my mind, I’m always thinking of songs
Big d-ck too, probably won’t fit in your mom
I made my shorty thick, that’s the type of sh-t that I’m on
I got to admit it, she helped me find where I belong
Stayed down with me through all of my rights and my wrongs
So now it’s me and her together a life long
Lock her heart up, hide the key, she ain’t finna make bond

The updated second verse more generally addresses growing up as well as their relationship:

They say life’s a puzzle, I'ma piece it together
But from the way I’m movin', I’ll probably be piecing forever
I date a bad b-tch, she’ll be over decent forever
Even with fake tits, these other hoes just decent forever
My lady said she saw a baddie in the hotel lobby
Well, love, let’s f-ck her together
We got the world to our backs, give a f-ck, never have
Middle fingers up, we’re screamin', ‘F-ck 'em forever’

Some people weren’t happy about the change, but Lotti is adamant that the updated version is what Juice wanted:

Clearly the song update is a minor quibble. The late rapper’s fanbase is propelling Legends Never Die to a massive No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200, and it’s currently positioned to make a run at 500,000 album-equivalent units.
