Justin Bieber Links With Don Toliver On New Song “Honest”

The song arrived alongside a Cole Bennett-directed music video.

Justin Bieber has finally delivered his actual new single, “Honest,” featuring Don Toliver. The track arrives after Bieber dropped the joke track “I Feel Funny,” along with an accompanying Cole Bennett-directed music video. It’s unclear whether “Honest” will appear on Bieber’s next album. The Canadian pop phenom is currently still on tour promoting his last LP, 2021’s JUSTICE. If you’re planning to make an appearance at an upcoming show, you can pick up all your Bieber tour merch on Amazon now.

Bennett first hinted at the release of “Honest” in an Instagram post explaining the origins of “I Feel Funny.” It was apparently Justin’s idea to tease fans with the silly track.

“Justin randomly texted me this song one day and said ‘should we do a visual to this? song straight to number 1.’ We joked around about doing a video for it but never did,” Bennett wrote. “A few weeks later we were doing a pick up day for a video we had recently shot, but never finished (Honest). We had a bit of time switching over from scene to scene. So, I went into his trailer and said ‘Remember that song you sent me? Let’s shoot a video for it on my phone in between takes of the actual video.’”

Produced by Azul Wynter, BEAM, and sonni, “Honest” marks the second collaboration for Bieber and Toliver. The pair previously linked on the 2021 Skrillex song “Don’t Go.” Bieber starts the track off with the chorus, where he opens up about why he fell for his girl.

Honest (Honest)
You’re modest, I like it (I like it)
You stay down and you the baddest (Baddest)

On the first verse, he admits to trying to deny his love before rattling off more reasons why he realized that she’s the one.

I tried to get away, but it’s boring (But it’s boring)
You’re my safe haven, I need it all alone (All alone)
And you’re my dime piece and I can’t take less than one (Less than, you the)

He ends the first verse by reminding us he’s a married man—a running theme in his music since tying the knot with Hailey Bieber in 2018.

I like that hazel on you (Like that hazel on you)
I look straight in your eyes, holy matrimony (Yeah)

Don Toliver is less concerned with the love of a woman on the second verse. He’s more interested in scoring some weed, copping a Jeep, and pulling up to the club ready to face his foe.

Fuck that McLaren, I’m ridin’ the Jeep (Jeep)
I got in the club with all of my thugs, I’m packin’ that Pistol Pete
Better watch your mouth, gotta pick a side before you jump and leap (Leap)

“Honest” arrived alongside its own Cole Bennett-directed video. This time, Bennett trades hasty behind-the-scenes footage for a high-budget, cinematic clip of Bieber and Toliver riding snowmobiles through scenic, wintery mountains.
