Looking Back At Eminem’s “Rap God”

It remains the third-most-viewed song on Genius of all time.

Eminem showed he was hungrier than ever on his 2013 song “Rap God,” spitting rhymes at a record-breaking pace. The motor-mouthed track remains the third-most-viewed song of all time on Genius, packing 1,560 words throughout its six minutes to set a new Guinness World Record for most words in a hit single.

The opening of “Rap God,” which is produced by DVLP, samples an audio recording of a Captain America comic book and also interpolates Doug E. Fresh’s 1985 track “The Show.” Eminem also name-drops legends such as Rakim, Lakim Shabazz, 2Pac, and each member of N.W.A on the track.
