Liam Payne Recruits A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie For The Ed Sheeran-Penned Single “Stack It Up”

It’s his second song to feature a Sheeran writing credit.

Although One Direction has been on an indefinite hiatus since 2016, Liam Payne remains one of just two members (alongside Louis Tomlinson who hasn’t release a full solo album yet.

Now, following his 2018 EP, First Time, Payne is back with his latest single, “Stack It Up.” The song features A Boogie wit da Hoodie and is the singer’s second song to include an Ed Sheeran co-writing credit. Sheeran previously worked on Payne’s hit single, “Strip That Down.”

The song is an ode to banking money:

I’ve been workin' and gettin' by
But that ain’t enough to satisfy
‘Cause I got dreams for you and I
So I got money on my mind
So if you wanna stack it up, man, you gotta work for it
I-I-I-I-I-I
Ain’t nobody gonna be doin’ it for ya
I-I-I-I-I

A Boogie keeps things going by pondering money’s effect on a relationship:

Yeah, I know shit don’t come free, you gotta work for it
Lamborghini Urus, bought it when I first saw it
She caught me creepin', I had to buy her a purse for it
I think if I ain’t have money, I’d be the worst for her

Payne’s debut solo album still doesn’t have a release date, and it looks like he’s taking his time putting it together. “I think albums do different things for different people. I don’t really know where I’m at with it yet but I know I’m having a good time doing what I’m doing,” he said in March of this year. “I like releasing different singles and I like touching on different subjects and sounds. I’m just seeing where it goes… If I want to do an album at some point I’m sure it will happen but right now I’m just trying to find the right songs.”
