Lil Yachty’s “Go Krazy, Go Stupid” Freestyle Is Named After A 2015 Meme

On the track, Yachty references City Girls’ “Act Up,” which he co-wrote.

As part of the promotional run for his upcoming Lil Boat 3 released a freestyle titled “Go Krazy, Go Stupid” on June 8. The song is produced by Heavy Mellow and Ronny J, and is Yachty’s second freestyle of 2019, following “Atlanta House Freestyle” with Chance the Rapper.

Yachty first teased the song in a tweet before later dropping it that same day. “Go Krazy, Go Stupid” borrows its name from a popular Vine that initially spread in 2015

Yachty is no stranger to meme culture, having been turned into something of one himself over a line on his song “Peek a Boo” where the rapper uses a baffling simile for oral sex.

Early in the “Go Krazy” freestyle, Yachty name checks “Act Up,” the hit single he helped write with fellow Quality Control act City Girls. Yachty said that he wrote the whole song besides the verse by Jatavia “JT” Johnson. He raps:

Tryna keep it cool, but this bitch gon' make me act up
Nigga, back up, go on somewhere and get your racks up

Elsewhere on the song, Yachty references fellow Atlanta native Yung Joc’s 2006 hit “It’s Goin' Down” as well as Cam'Ron’s pink car, something that 2 Chainz also cited on “3500” by Travis Scott.

Lil Yachty appeared on Genius' series Verified to explain the lyrics fo his 2018 song “COUNT ME IN.”
