Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, & Justin Bieber’s “Despacito” Becomes The Most Streamed Song Of All Time

It’s already the most popular song in Genius history.

Just a few weeks after becoming the most popular song in Genius history, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito” has passed another amazing milestone. According to Billboard, the track is now the most streamed song of all time, earning over 4.6 billion streams between the original and Justin Bieber’s remix. Bieber’s 2015 single “Sorry” previously held the record. Impressively, “Despacito” accomplished the feat just six months after its release, and less than three months after Bieber’s remix dropped.

“Despacito” has ruled the Billboard Hot 100 for 10 weeks and counting, one of just 35 singles in history to stay at the top of the charts for that long. Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men still hold the record for longest run at No. 1; their 1995 single “One Sweet Day” ruled the charts for 16 weeks.

“Despacito” producers Mauricio Rengifo and Andrés Torres explained how the beat came together in Genius' latest episode of Deconstructed:
