Meek Mill & Roddy Ricch Debut New Song Dedicated To Nipsey Hussle During The 2020 Grammy Awards

YG, DJ Khaled, & John Legend also honored the late rapper.

Several of Nipsey Hussle’s close collaborators paid tribute to the late rapper during a performance at the 2020 Grammy Awards. Meek Mill and Roddy Ricch debuted a new song titled “Letter to Nipsey.”

On the track, Meek raps:

You made me cry nigga (Cry nigga), and I don’t cry nigga (Cry nigga)
You the first one made me feel like I could die nigga (Like I could die)
Cause real niggas never die, you know the vibes nigga (You know the vibes nigga, yeah)
Couple days ago was chilling with my youngins
Seeing your kids on the ‘Gram, it made me sicker to my stomach (It made me sick)
And as the marathon continue, we keep running (We won’t stop)

Roddy shares his own memories of dealing with news of Nipsey’s death:

I was in Miami when I lost you, I ain’t talk about it (Yeah)
I remember I bawled out in tears when I saw your body (Mm)
In a flight back home, had cold days in LA (Hm)
Had to turn off my phone, throw on the shades and meditate

YG, DJ Khaled, and John Legend also took the stage, with the latter two artists playing Nipsey’s first posthumous song, “Higher.”

The performers also honored Kobe Bryant, who died earlier today in a helicopter crash:

Both YG and Meek Mill were planning joint projects with Nipsey before he was shot and killed on March 31 outside of his Marathon Clothing store in Los Angeles.

Earlier in the evening, Nipsey and Roddy’s collaboration with Hit-Boy, “Racks in the Middle,” picked up a Grammy for Best Rap Performance:

The award was accepted by Nipsey’s family, including his grandmother, who thanked those in attendance for “showing all the love” for her grandson “that I have felt for him all of his life and will always live in my heart, so thank you.”

Following the tribute, “Higher” won for Best Rap/Sung Performance:
