Megan Thee Stallion & Dua Lipa Team Up For First Time On New Song “Sweetest Pie”

The song arrived alongside a sultry music video.

Megan Thee Stallion and Dua Lipa served us a tasty treat this Friday with their new single, “Sweetest Pie.” As expected, fans of the power duo immediately ate it up, sending the track to the upper reaches of the Genius Top Songs chart.

Officially announced less than a week ago, “Sweetest Pie” marks Dua and Megan’s first-ever collaboration. Megan explained via Apple Music that she got the idea to work with the pop star from fan-made mashups of their songs online. Once Lipa agreed to the collab, Megan began a quest for the perfect beat. “I didn’t just send her any track,” Megan said. “I waited ‘til I had the perfect one, and I feel like we both came to a mutual agreement that it was greatness.”

Lyrically, “Sweetest Pie” finds Megan Thee Stallion and Dua Lipa owning their sexualities through a bunch of fun dessert puns. On the chorus, which opens the track, Dua alternates between food and car metaphors. Whereas her body recalls delicious pie, sex is like a high-speed joyride.

Ooh, baby, we can go fast, I’ll drive and you just lay back
I got the flavor that lasts, yeah, the sweetest pie (Uh-huh, uh-huh)

Megan steps in for the first verse, where she plays around with some dessert imagery as well.

That body lookin’ nice (Lookin’ nice)
I got cake and I know he want a slice

She later takes the sweet-treat theme to the next level, using a reference to Hansel and Gretel for a clever line about oral sex. In the Grimms’ fairytale, Hansel and Gretel are lured to a witch’s gingerbread house, where she fattens them up with candy and cake in hopes of later eating them.

Live under my bed and keep me up (Hey)
That Hansel and Gretel, let him eat me up (Ah)

On the second verse, Dua isn’t the only irresistible treat on the menu. She can’t get enough of her partner, either.

You got me hung up from across the room
I’m so high that I’m on another altitude

Megan Thee Stallion can’t help but throw in one more dessert pun on the third verse.

Wanna put his Nutty Buddy in my Fudge Round (Bow)

“Sweetest Pie” arrived alongside a colorful music video, where Dua Lipa and Megan Thee Stallion romp around a mystical forrest and a fiery arena in a variety of costumes.

Megan told Apple Music that fans can expect more collabs like this Dua Lipa link-up in the future. “I want them to be very organic to me, very organic to whoever I’m collaborating with, “ she said. “And I want us to both really thrive on it and really shine.”
