Billie Eilish scored her latest hit in 2020 with the release of July’s “my future,” and now Miley Cyrus is putting her own spin on the track. Cyrus stepped into BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge to promote her own single, “Midnight Sky,” where she also decided to cover Eilish’s new song.
Cyrus keeps Eilish’s lyrics intact, singing about finding inner contentment and being excited for what comes next:
‘Cause I, I’m in love
With my future
Can’t wait to meet her
And I (I), I’m in love
But not with anybody else
Just wanna get to know myself
She delivers the song with a full, masked backing band, evoking the look of her own “Midnight Sky” video:
During her appearance, Cyrus also performed her 2019 single, “Slide Away”:
“my future” peaked at No. 6 on the Hot 100 chart earlier this year. It’s Eilish’s second single of 2020, following the James Bond theme song, “No Time to Die.” Thus far, she hasn’t given an indication of whether or not her sophomore album is on the horizon.
