Michigan Rapper NF Beats Chance The Rapper For No. 1 On The Billboard 200 With ‘The Search’

It marks NF’s second consecutive chart-topping album.

NF earns his second No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with The Search, beating out Chance the Rapper’s debut album, The Big Day. The Search racked up 130,000 album units (84,000 pure sales) for the week ending August 1, while The Big Day moved 108,000 album units (27,000 pure sales).

The latter release was originally projected to take the top spot by a comfortable margin, but NF was able to close the gap and overtake Chance as the tracking week continued.

The Search marks NF’s second consecutive chart-topping album. The Michigan rapper’s previous album, Perception, debuted at No. 1 in October 2017.

It’s worth noting that The Big Day arrived in the early afternoon on Friday, more than 12 hours after initially expected. Perhaps the later release ultimately cost Chance his first No. 1 album.
