Nipsey Hussle Earned Four Entries On The Billboard Hot 100 Chart This Week

“Racks in the Middle” led the way.

In the wake of Nipsey Hussle’s shocking murder on March 31, fans new and old have been revisiting the Los Angeles rapper’s catalog of music. This renewed interest already boosted his debut album, Victory Lap, to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, and now it’s sent four of his tracks back onto the Hot 100, too.

His 2019 single, “Racks in the Middle” with Roddy Ricch, landed at No. 44 this week, marking the highest Hot 100 position of Nipsey’s career. Three Victory Lap tracks also made it onto the chart: “Double Up” (No. 65), “Last Time That I Checc’d” (No. 82) and “Dedication” (No. 93).

Three of these four songs also saw the biggest gains in pageviews on Genius in the days after Nipsey’s murder:

Nipsey previously broke down the lyrics to “Racks in the Middle” in a March episode of Verified:

Police arrested Nipsey’s alleged killer, 29 year old Eric Holder, several days after the shooting that took the rapper’s life. Holder recently pled not guilty to an array of charges including murder, attempted murder, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

The rapper’s official memorial service is set to take place at Los Angeles' Staples Center on Thursday, April 11. There’s been an outpouring of support for Nipsey and his family since the rapper’s death, with artists across the musical spectrum paying tribute.
