Nipsey Hussle Has Best Sales Week Ever, While Billie Eilish Sells Over 300,000 Units

Billie Eilish claimed the No. 1 spot with her debut LP.

A week after his tragic death, Nipsey Hussle has achieved the highest chart position of his career with 2018’s Victory Lap reentering the Billboard 200 at No. 2 after moving 66,000 equivalent album units. Hussle was murdered on March 31 outside of his Marathon Clothing Company store in L.A.

Victory Lap initially debuted at No. 4, moving 53,000 album-equivalent units, which had previously been the best sales week of his career. The album was later nominated for a Best Rap Album Grammy. Just a day after his death, Billboard reported that Hussle’s sales increased 2,776 percent, and his Genius pageviews increased by more than 3,300 percent as well. The jump to 66,000 units represents a 2,244 percent increase over Victory Lap’s sales in the previous week.

WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? the debut album by Billie Eilish, comfortably earned the No. 1 spot by moving 313,000 units. Her previous release, the 2017 EP dont smile at me peaked at No. 14, but first entered the charts at No. 185 several weeks after it came out.

WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP had the second-largest debut for 2019, trailing only thank u, next by Ariana Grande. Eilish’s debut also became the third most streamed album by a woman artist, trailing Grande and Cardi B’s Invasion of Privacy

The week’s other notable debut came from George Strait, who had his 21st top 10 record with Honky Tonk Time Machine. It moved 51,000 units, enough for a No. 4 debut. The previous week’s No. 1 album, Bad Habits by NAV, dropped to no. 6 with 35,000 units moved.
