‘Savage Mode II’ Gets The Chopped Not Slopped Treatment Courtesy Of The Chopstars

Slim K & OG Ron C help 21 Savage & Metro Boomin pay further homage to southern hip-hop.

21 Savage and Metro Boomin’s Savage Mode II pays perfect homage to some of hip-hop’s legends, so it’s only right that the project also gets a little Houston flavor. The Chopstars‘ Slim K and OG Ron C delivered a Chopped Not Slopped version of the album that doubles as a proper deluxe edition:

Although many projects get the Chopped Not Slopped treatment, it’s especially fitting for Savage Mode II considering the project’s call-backs to southern hip-hop. The cover art pays homage to Pen & Pixel Graphics, which designed artwork for many classic releases from No Limit and Cash Money. It also features narration written by Dungeon Family legend Big Rube. “Chopped Not Slopped” is The Chopstars' take on the Chopped N Screwed style of Houston’s pioneering DJ Screw.

Savage Mode II debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart last week, moving 171,000 equivalent album units in its first week. Its the biggest first week sales of either artist’s career, and follows No. 1 debuts from their respective solo albums, I AM > I WAS and Not All Heroes Wear Capes.
