J Balvin is back with his latest album, Colores. As the title suggests, nine of the 10 songs are named after a Spanish word for a color. The sole exception is “Arcoíris,” which translates to rainbow in English. For the album art, the Colombia native collaborated with famed Japanese artist Takashi Murakami.
Featured artists include Mr Eazi and one of J Balvin’s main producers, Sky Rompiendo. Production is handled by Sky, Ronny J, DJ Snake, Michael Brun, and Taiko. The reggaetonero released three singles in anticipation of the album: “Blanco,” “Morado,” and “Rojo.”
In an interview with Miami New Times, J Balvin explained the emotions he meant to evoke with the songs.
“The song ‘Rojo’ is filled with lots of passion and feeling, while ‘Negro’ is more street and all about perreo,” he said. “‘'Verde’ is much happier, and ‘Azul’ is very chill.”
