6ix9ine’s last album, 2018’s DUMMY BOY, experienced a botched rollout as the rapper was caught up in a federal racketeering case against his former gang, the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods. Less than two years later, he’s out of jail for good, scored his first No. 1 hit, and is looking to keep his momentum going with the release of his new album, TattleTales.
The album features Akon, Nicki Minaj, and Lil AK (aka media personality DJ Akademiks, a major 6ix9ine booster). It includes recent singles like “GOOBA,” “PUNANI,” “YAYA,” and “TROLLZ,” the latter of which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart earlier this year.
“I’m already at the top, now just keep making music and keep dominating,” 6ix9ine told The New York Times about his plans for the future. “Why would I want to [change anyone’s mind]? It’s made me millions of dollars. I’m stupid, but I’m not dumb. What if I change, and I don’t make no more money? Keep hating me, because you’re going to keep tuning in.”
