Bastille just released their third studio album, Doom Days. The release of the self-described “apocalyptic party record” was preceded by lead single “Quarter Past Midnight,” which reached No. 65 on the UK Singles Chart last year. This is the band’s first full-length since 2016’s Wild World.
Doom Days is the work of a small circle of collaborators. All of the tracks were written by the British outfit’s frontman, Dan Smith. Mark Crew and Dan Priddy also took on production duties.
“[This album will be a] very slightly ‘90s-looking euphoric party album but in a sort of scuzzy British way that kind of acknowledges that we still live in the same world as we made our last record, if not a slightly more bizarre one,” Smith said in an interview with NME. “But, how it’s not necessarily healthy for the mind to constantly engage with it too much… It’s a record about escapism. It’s definitely way more personal and inward-looking.”
