Denzel Curry opened 2020 with a 13-minute mix titled 13LOOD 1N + 13LOOD OUT. It includes eight songs and features Ghostemane, Xavier Wulf, AKTHESAVIOR of The Underachievers, and ZillaKami of City Morgue.
The Florida rapper first announced the project back in November 2018:
“Just when you thought it was over for me, just when you thought it’ll be the end of me, just when you thought I wouldn’t come back for another two years,” he wrote in the YouTube description. “I came to bring you a gift from the higher power of the ULT nation. The entity known as ZXLTRXN is here to give you an invitation to the active mind of a man with multiple personalities. Darkness, Happiness, Past, Present, and Future make there [sic] way into this Mixx.”
Denzel continued the note by paying respects to his late brother, Treon “Tree” Johnson—whom the rapper memorialized in his music video for “RICKY”—and other family members, as well as Trayvon Martin and slain rapper XXXTentacion.
In 2019, Denzel dropped his fourth studio album, ZUU, in May before teaming up with hardcore pioneers Bad Brains for his Spotify Singles session. He also dropped “Crash the Server” through the Netflix anime, Carole & Tuesday, teamed up with slowthai on “Psycho,” linked up with UK indie band Glass Animals on “Tokyo Drifting,” and collaborated with YBN Cordae on the Grand Theft Auto V track, “AL1ENZ.”
