Internet Money released their first album, B4 The Storm, last week. Founded by Taz Taylor and Nick Mira, Internet Money is a collective of producers and artists, but also functions as a management company and a label. Although they were previously signed with Alamo Records and Interscope Records, they left those deals in 2019 and signed with 10K Projects, which enabled them to make their new album.
“We finalized our deal with 10K Projects in like August or September of last year, but we had already been talking about an album for a minute,” said Taz Taylor, to Complex. “I brought it up to Elliot [Grainge] that I wanted to drop songs as an artist under Internet Money—just my favorite artists working together and putting songs together, like some DJ Khaled type sh-t. He was very encouraging of it.”
Thanks to Taylor and Mira’s long list of hit songs, the project has a wide range of high-profile features. Artists like Juice WRLD and Lil Tecca, which Internet Money members helped break in the industry, make appearances. The album also features the likes of Trippie Redd, Young Nudy, Lil Mosey, Future, Swae Lee, The Kid LAROI, 24kGoldn, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Wiz Khalifa, StaySolidRocky, and Kevin Gates. The album includes the song “Lemonade"—which features Don Toliver, Gunna, and NAV—and just debuted at No. 66 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Prior to the album’s release, members of the collective Taz Taylor, Nick Mira, Alec Wigdahl, and TyFontaine all sat down with Genius' VP of Content Strategy Rob Markman to discuss how the project came together on Genius' For The Record.
