Jhené Aiko just returned with her third studio album, Chilombo. The tracklist includes the previously released cuts, “Triggered (freestyle),” “None of Your Concern,” and “P*$$Y Fairy (OTW).” This is her first LP since 2017’s Trip.
The LA singer-songwriter worked with H.E.R., Miguel, Future, Ab-Soul, Dr. Chill, Nas, John Legend, and Ty Dolla $ign. Over on the production side, Julian-Quan Viet Le and The Fisticuffs have credits.
While recording her latest LP, Aiko used sound bowls, a common meditative instrument that has a soothing effect. During a listening session, she spoke about how she adapted this method for “P*$$Y Fairy (OTW).” “For instance, ‘P*$$Y Fairy (OTW)’ is in the key of D, so I played a bowl in the note of D,” she said, according to Billboard’s Carl Lamarre. “D corresponds with your second chakra (sacral chakra), which governs your sexual organs below your navel and your hips. So even though the song is fun and sexy, there’s an actual healing instrument in there to help balance you out in those areas.”
