Logic’s sixth studio album, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, has released, just two days after its official announcement. Coming off the singing-heavy Supermarket (Soundtrack), which was accompanied by a novel of the same name, Logic returns to his hip-hop roots with his new release.
Logic’s debut album, Under Pressure, was a well-received introduction into the rap game, and fans have been longing for that style of rap again. This project attempts to merge that past with the newest alter ego, “Bobby Tarantino,” which Logic used to release two projects with trap stylings.
While a huge part of the album is its sound, Logic continues to push out projects with a message. Confessions of a Dangerous Mind is a space where the Maryland rapper is able to dive into the problems he sees in the digital world, including drugs, social media, and diminishing happiness in society.
The January 2019 single, “Keanu Reeves,” stood as one of the longest teases of Logic’s career; he debuted the song all the way back in April 27, 2018 at a concert in State College, Pennsylvania. Logic then used the second single, “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind,” to announce this upcoming album under the same title.
Just one week prior to the album’s release, Logic dropped the third and final single, “Homicide,” which featured one of Logic’s idols, Eminem. The song shot to the top of Genius charts with over a thousand concurrent viewers for over 24 hours after its release, and reaching one million views in just five days.
This album also includes features by artists such as Gucci Mane, G-Eazy, Will Smith and Wiz Khalifa, as well as up and coming DMV native YBN Cordae.
