After nearly two years of promo and a rollout upended by leaks and label drama, Lil Uzi Vert’s highly anticipated sophomore album, Eternal Atake, is here. The 18-track project includes his recent singles, “That Way” and “Futsal Shuffle 2020,” as well as a lone feature from The Internet’s Syd.
Uzi first announced the project nearly two years ago and publicly claimed it was finished in late 2018. However, he was sidelined by a series of nasty public disputes with DJ Drama and Don Cannon soon after. In early 2019 he threatened to retire from the music industry. At one point, XO rapper NAV claimed that the label was blocking clearance of Uzi’s feature verses.
At the time, DJ Drama insisted that Uzi was free to release the album whenever he wanted. Uzi later signed a management deal with JAY-Z’s Roc Nation but saw his album progress delayed by a series of leaks that Uzi accused Working on Dying producer Forza of orchestrating.
He got back to releasing music by late 2019, and had fans vote on the cover art for the project earlier this week.
