Netflix’s teen drama series, 13 Reasons Why, returned for a third season today. To mark the occasion, an 18-song soundtrack was released through Interscope Records. It includes Lauv and Anne-Marie’s “fuck, i’m lonely,” The Decemberists‘ 2018 track, “Severed,” and 5 Seconds of Summer’s newly released single, “Teeth.” Other featured artists include Charli XCX, Jeremih, Twin Shadow, Frightened Rabbit, Daya, and more.
13 Reasons Why is an adaptation of the 2007 Jay Asher novel of the same name. Originally slated to be a film starring executive producer Selena Gomez, the project was picked up by Netflix and premiered its first season on the streaming service in March 2017 to critical acclaim.
Here’s the official Season 3 synopsis:
Eight months after preventing Tyler (Devin Druid) from committing an unthinkable act at Spring Fling, Clay (Minnette), Tony (Christian Navarro), Jessica (Alisha Boe), Alex (Miles Heizer), Justin (Brandon Flynn) and Zach (Ross Butler) find ways to shoulder the burden of the cover-up together while helping Tyler move toward recovery. But when the aftermath of a tumultuous Homecoming game culminates in the disappearance of a football player, and Clay finds himself under police scrutiny, it’s up to a shrewd outsider to steer the group through an investigation that threatens to lay bare everyone’s deepest secrets. The stakes are raised as the consequences of even the most well-intended actions can alter a life forever.
