Swae Lee’s “Someone Said” Flips His Feature On Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode”

Back in 2018, the Rae Sremmurd member tweeted that he’d turn his cameo into a song.

Swae Lee just made good on his promise to turn his two-word line from Travis Scott and Drake’s “SICKO MODE” into a full-on track: “Someone Said.” After the 2018 cut reached the point of omnipresence, the Mississippi artist decided to turn his split-second music moment into a nearly four-minute song.

His cameo on the 2018 smash hit was brief, but those three syllables made an impact (on the italicized lines):

Someone said
Shorty FaceTimed me out the blue
Someone said
Pl-Playin' for keeps
Someone said, motherfcker—someone said*
Don’t play us for weak

In response to fan requests, the Rae Sremmurd member spoke his latest track into existence back in October 2018:

Naturally, his pen spreads out far beyond the two-word hook on the new offering. Produced by Shawn Ferrari, “Someone Said” centers on Swae Lee’s falsetto-laced braggadocio, as he sings:

Yeah, I cut you off like some scissors (Quicker)
Breaststroke, baby, I’m a good swimmer (Phelps)
Playin' with the gang, you no member (Gang, gang)
I’m picky but my girl pickier (Pick)
Press the button, buzz you up (Yuh), you may enter (Woo)
Smoking on loud, yeah, stickier (Yeah)

The Mississippi artist recontextualizes the “someone said” lyric in a line about a girl who wants to spend it:

I hope you forgive me just for sinnin' (Amen, tell ‘em)
I drop-top, sheesh, you can meet me there (Yeah)
Someone said that she wanna spend it (Someone, someone, yeah)
Yeah, I’m the sh*t, just to be specific (Woo, woo, come on)

Last year, Swae Lee notched a No. 1 hit with the Post Malone-assisted “Sunflower.” He also appeared on Joji and Jackson Wang’s “Walking,” and he dropped “Won’t Be Late” with Drake. Earlier this month, he released “Back 2 Back Maybach.”
