Coinciding with the release of her latest album, P!nk was this week’s musical guest on Saturday Night Live. She performed her two new singles “What About Us” and “Beautiful Trauma” for a full studio audience.
“What About Us” is PInk’s call for unity amongst all, in the most trying of times:
Sticks and stones, they may break these bones
But then I’ll be ready, are you ready?
It’s the start of us, waking up come on
Are you ready? I’ll be ready
I don’t want control, I want to let go
Are you ready? I’ll be ready
‘Cause now it’s time to let them know
She then went into her new album’s title track “Beautiful Trauma,” which is about the positives of a chaotic love:
The first verse of the song is based on her real-life experience with a house fire and slashing her husband’s tires:
We were on fire
I slashed your tires
It’s like we burn so bright, we burn out
I made you chase me
I wasn’t that friendly
“What About Us” and “Beautiful Trauma” are both singles from P!nk’s aforementioned new album Beautiful Trauma. This is her first album since 2012’s The Truth About Love.
