PHresher Breaks Down “Wait A Minute” On Genius’ Video Series ‘Verified’

“I was the kid with the five-finger rings.”

Brooklyn rapper PHresher’s viral hit “Wait A Minute” got a nice bump thanks to a remix featuring 50 Cent and Remy Ma late last year. All eyes were on Remy’s verse, which the internet thought might’ve taken aim at Nicki Minaj, but there’s more to the track than a fire remix. PHresher’s hook and verse are a solid introduction to the up-and-coming MC—like how the Diamonds on his wrist have been glistening his whole life.

“I’m the only child on my mom’s side,” he tells Genius. “Spoiled brat. I was the kid with the five-finger rings, and I used to get so many beatings from losing jewelry. My pops used to be tight like, ‘Stop putting all that jewelry on my son,’ but my mom didn’t play that. She loved jewelry.”

PHresher sat down with Genius for the latest episode of Verified, breaking down one of the standout tracks from his latest album. Watch him go line-for-line with “Wait A Minute” in the video above, and then check out past episodes below.
