P!nk and Eminem have scored hits together over the years, linking up for 2010’s “Won’t Back Down” and 2012’s “Here Comes the Weekend.” Today, the pair reunite for “Revenge,” a cut off P!nk’s new album Beautiful Trauma. The song is co-produced by Shellback and Max Martin, and appears as the second track on her new album.
On the first verse, P!nk evokes Leonardo DiCaprio’s Oscar-winning performance as Hugh Glass in *The Revenant:
Like Leo in “The Revenant,” Abel in that Bible bit
Revenge is sweet, isn’t it? Really, really hope for it
I know that it won’t fix a thing, a song like this that I could sing
For you
Meanwhile, Em delivers an uncharacteristically laid-back verse about being cheated on:
So when you’re driving, driving to his house
And you pass me while I’m driving to hers
Just remember, you cheated on me first
You’re a whore, you’re a whore, this is war, fellas, ladies
In a recent interview with Lorraine Magazine, P!nk explained how the collaboration came together:
I reached out to him. I love him. I’ve always loved him. I think he’s lyrical genius and I just wrote a love letter. I went to studio, I drunk a lot of wine, I wrote “Revenge”, I went home and then I drunk more wine.
Beautiful Trauma is P!nk’s first new album since 2012’s The Truth About Love, marking a five-year gap without a new project.
