Playboi Carti Says He Has Over 100 Unreleased Songs With Lil Uzi Vert

They’ve been teasing a joint album since September 2017.

Over the past year, Playboi Carti and Lil Uzi Vert shared several collaborative loosies including “Bankroll,” “Squad (Firearm),” and “Break The Bank.” According to Carti, the pair has plenty more music in the pipeline.

During an interview with Los Angeles radio station REAL 92.3 on Monday, Carti was asked about his long-rumored joint project with Uzi, and claimed that the two artists have about 100 songs recorded together. “We been recording since 2015,” he said. “We know what we’re capable of.”

This isn’t the first time Carti has teased a body of work with Uzi. Back in September 2017, Carti captioned a Snapchat picture of Captain Sensible and Dave Vanian of punk rock band The Damned with “Carti Uzi Tape * Uzi Carti Tape * 16.29.”

The project, which was incorrectly rumored to be released in early 2018, is expected to be called 1629. These numbers are likely a reference to the rappers’ hometowns. “16” could be alluding to Philadelphia’s 1600 block, where Lil Uzi Vert grew up, and “29” could be a reference to Atlanta’s 2900 block, where Playboi Carti was raised.

As Carti pointed out, he and Uzi are longtime collaborators. The Philadelphia rapper guested on Carti’s songs “wokeuplikethis*,” “Lookin,” and “Shoota,” with the Atlanta native returning the favor on “Of Course We Ghetto Flowers” and “Left, Right.”
