Pusha-T Says Tyler, The Creator Has The “Album Of The Year, For Now” On Pop Smoke’s “Tell The Vision”

He says his own project is dropping soon.

Pop Smoke’s second posthumous album, Faith, has officially hit streaming services, and it’s full of high-profile guest stars. He’s joined by Pusha-T and Kanye West on the album’s third track, “Tell the Vision,” where Push delivers a verse that was clearly written and recorded in recent weeks. On the song, Push declares Tyler, The Creator’s CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST the “album of the year, for now,” and hints at new music of his own coming soon.

The song is produced by BoogzDaBeast, Jahlil Beats, FnZ, SethInTheKitchen, Kanye, and Rico Beats, and finds Push praising Tyler while promising his next album is on the way:

Look, Tyler got the album of the year, for now
But Pop about to drop, I see the Platinum in the clouds
Now Push about to drop, so real trappers stick around
The crown is only for the king, they tryna place it on a clown

Tyler’s CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST has earned high praises from critics for its strong production and lyricism and a concept based around DJ Drama’s classic Gangsta Grillz mixtape series. He won a Best Rap Album Grammy last year for IGOR, and his new album is also expected to be a contender.

Back in a March Instagram Live broadcast, Push promised fans that he would be releasing the “best album that drops in 2021,” and said the upcoming album will run 12 tracks total.

The Virginia native previously claimed that the album would be produced entirely by Kanye and The Neptunes, although it’s unclear if that’s still the case. “That’s it,” he told Spotify’s Rap Caviar late last year. “Ain’t nothing to talk about. I bring the best out of everybody.”

Pusha’s last album, 2018’s DAYTONA, was widely praised as one of the year’s best releases and earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album. Kanye produced the entirety of that project, while The Neptunes have a long history with Push both as a solo artist and as part of Clipse. Pusha discussed working on follow-up efforts last year, noting that he has three different projects in the works and was rapping over beats by Tyler, The Creator.

Pop Smoke’s last album, Shoot For the Stars Aim For the Moon, was also supposed to feature the former Clipse rapper, but Push asked to be removed after facing criticism for dropping apparent Drake disses on the song “Paranoia.”

“Tell the Vision” also features a short intro from Kanye West, the rapper’s first new material since he appeared on Playboi Carti’s late-2020 track “Go2DaMoon.”
