It arrives alongside an updated release date for his forthcoming album, ‘Beautiful Mind.’

After over two months of silence regarding his highly anticipated fourth album, Beautiful Mind, Rod Wave has finally returned with a new single off the LP, “Stone Rolling,” and an updated released date. The project was previously set to arrive in June, but it never dropped. Now, it’s slated to hit streaming platforms on August 12.

“Stone Rolling” is the third single off Beautiful Mind—following “Cold December” and “By Your Side”—and was accompanied by an official music video directed by EYE 4.

Produced by SephGotTheWaves, TnTXD, and Geo Vocals, the song lets Rod Wave do what he does best—air out his grievances over a lo-fi hip-hop beat. This time, the Florida-born artist has traveled high and far in search of a home, only to come up short. On the chorus, he explains how the nomadic lifestyle has become part of his nature.

Uh, he’s a rolling stone, he’s a rolling stone
Long as the wind blows, I’ll be long gone

On the verse, he describes his childhood desire to explore the world—and his realization that rapping was his ticket to do so.

I remember bein’ a kid, I just wanted to travel
On my bed, writin’ raps, thinkin’ ‘bout daddy (My daddy)
Was in my cell, writin’ raps, regrettin’ my actions
Like if I make it out this shit, I’m goin’ straight to Cali

Six years later, Rod Wave is living the life he always dreamed of, but he’s slowly learning that it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.

I said it and, no, I don’t regret it
I just woke up in my tour bus, I don’t know where I’m headed

He doesn’t regret starting to tour when he was a teenager, but it does takes its toll—and fame can be overwhelming.

Love livin’ in the A when people knew me barely
Then my dream came alive, this shit got very scary (Bah, bah, bah, bah, bah)

He closes out the verse wondering if he’ll ever be able to settle down again.

I spent some time in Carolina, spent time in Tennessee
Is there a heaven for a G? Where can I go to get some peace?
I wanna settle with my kids, buy a crib by the beach

Leading up to the release of “Stone Rolling,” Wave’s manager Dee Lane took to Instagram to thank fans for their patience throughout the rocky Beautiful Mind rollout. “We wanna thank the Alamo family, the Hithouseent, [and] everybody that was patient with us,” he wrote. “We always appreciate the support from everybody round us.”
