The musical film sequel Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again had an impressive opening weekend from July 20-22, taking in $35 million domestically with a worldwide gross of $77.8 million. It’s the follow-up to 2008’s Mamma Mia, a movie adaptation of the 1999 Broadway musical of the same name, which is in turn based on the songs of Swedish pop group ABBA. Since Here We Go Again hit theaters on July 20, there’s been renewed interest in ABBA’s music on Genius and streaming services such as Spotify.
ABBA’s “Andante, Andante” saw the highest percentage increase in pageviews when comparing songs from the film on Sunday, July 13 to their recent peaks after the movie opened in theaters. It rose from 40 pageviews to a recent peak of 1,832 on July 24, representing a 4,480 percent increase. While some of ABBA’s already popular songs such as “Mamma Mia!” and “Dancing Queen” didn’t receive such drastic pageview spikes, they still saw increases of 407 percent and 222 percent, respectively.

As Spotify noted in a press release, many ABBA tracks featured in Here We Go Again also saw sizable boosts in streams after the movie hit theaters, with “Andante, Andante,” “Why Did It Have to Be Me,” and “I’ve Been Waiting for You” leading the pack.
