After weeks of uncertainty following its announcement back in early May, Young Thug’s new album Beautiful Thugger Girls is officially here. The 14-track all-singing project features Future, Snoop Dogg, Jacquees, Lil Durk, and Millie Go Lightly, and Thugger later added verses from Travis Scott and Gunna as well. It’s executive produced by Drake, London On Da Track, and Wheezy. Although Thugger hasn’t released any singles from the project, he did preview the song “Family Don’t Matter” in his album trailer.
The album cover bears a striking resemblance to Lil Wayne’s 2010 rock album Rebirth, with both rappers sitting in candle-lit rooms holding guitars. Both projects also feature songs titled “On Fire.”
“I think for [Thug], singing has to do with the romantic element more than the melodic element,” Thugger’s engineer Alex Tumay told Genius about the project. “Because he’s always melodic, even in his harder songs. ‘Danny Glover’ has some of the greatest melodies of all time.”
