In late January, Zacari announced that he signed to Top Dawg Entertainment. The Bakersfield singer and songwriter also dropped “Don’t Trip,” a promotional single in anticipation of his first commercial project, Run Wild Run Free. Today, that project has arrived. The 7-track EP features Lil Yachty, while production is handled by Teddy Walton, CuBeatz, J-Louis, Syk Sense, and more. The EP also includes “Midas Touch,” the project’s second promotional single.
Prior to signing to TDE, Zacari was most known for his feature on Kendrick Lamar’s “LOVE.,” as well as his collaborations with Isaiah Rashad (on September 2016’s “Wats Wrong”) and Ab-Soul (on “RAW (Backwards)” in December 2016). Zacari can also be heard on SOB x RBE’s “Paramedic!” and “Redemption Interlude” off the February 2018 compilation Black Panther: The Album.
TDE is currently readying to roll out ScHoolboy Q’s fifth studio album. The Los Angeles rapper released the project’s first single, “Numb Numb Juice,” yesterday. Zacari revealed that he had six songs with Q via Twitter, but none of them made the final cut.
