Ab-Soul just released his long-awaited new album Do What Thou Wilt. The 14-track album features ScHoolboy Q, SZA, Mac Miller, Rapsody, Bas, and Punch. Production is handled by Mike WiLL Made It, PakkMusicGroup, Sounwave and more.
Do What Thou Wilt is the official follow up to Ab-Soul’s 2014 album These Days… Although Soulo expressed frustration about the long delay between the projects, TDE’s CEO Top Dawg publicly called him out in early November for not finishing the mixes on time:
Soulo caused some controversy with his song “Raw (Backwards)” due to shots he takes at Jay Electronica:
I was like a swami of Jay Electronica until he
Figured Dizzle wouldn’t admit that he would body him for a milli
I told Kenny keep quiet, I'ma get him
We don’t need dirt on your hands getting the key to the city ya feel me
Hurts when your OG, who is supposed to be a G-O-D
Is standing next to King Kunta feeling like Toby
This references Jay’s unwillingness to admit that Kendrick Lamar is a better rapper than him on his February song “#TBW The Curse of Mayweather.” Ab-Soul also called Jay out at the second annual STEEZ Day Festival in Los Angeles earlier this year.
