Less than six months after the release of Sweetener, Ariana Grande is back with her new album, thank u, next. She’s been teasing the 12-song project since before the release of its title track last year, and previewed it with “imagine” as well as her chart-topping singles “7 rings” and "thank u, next." The album features production by Social House, TBHits, Happy Perez, Max Martin, Andrew “Pop” Wansel, and more.
Grande’s album is entirely featureless, and was primarily written in one week following the dissolution of her engagement to comedian Pete Davidson. In an interview with Billboard last year, she explained that the project is the product of “feminine energy and champagne and music and laughter and crying. This [album’s] not particularly uplifting. A lot of it sounds really upbeat, but it’s actually a super sad chapter."
She’s set to perform songs from both Sweetener and thank u, next during her upcoming world tour, which kicks off in March.
