Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny had a breakout 2018, appearing on Cardi B’s “I Like It” and scoring hits with Enrique Iglesias and Drake. Now, he’s finally released his debut LP, X 100PRE. The title is an acronym for “por siempre,” which translates to "forever” in English.
In an interview with Billboard, Bad Bunny said that he finished the album on December 20, and that he wanted to put it out before the end of the year. “At that point I said I wanted to release it in Christmas. I didn’t want the year to end without releasing the album. I wanted to close 2018 with it,“ he said.
The album, which was originally titled La Nueva Religión, was preceded by the Drake-assisted “MIA,” which peaked at No. 5 on the Hot 100, as well as “Solo de Mí” and “Estamos Bien.” In the “Solo de Mí” video, Bad Bunny makes a statement condemning domestic violence.
