Nearly four years after dropping his 2019 sophomore album, CASE STUDY 01, Grammy Award-winning R&B singer, songwriter, and producer Daniel Caesar is back with his third album and first under Republic Records, NEVER ENOUGH. The album was preceded by a handful of promotional singles, including “Do You Like Me?,” “Let Me Go,” and “Unstoppable.”
For NEVER ENOUGH, Caesar decided to go back to his roots. The Canada-born artist made most of the album on his 36-acre farm a few hours outside Toronto and worked mainly with Toronto-based collaborators like badbadnotgood, Jordan Evans, Matthew Burnett, and his little brother Zachary Simmonds, who co-wrote “Valentina.” While CASE STUDY 01 was filled with guest appearances from the likes of Brandy, Pharrell, and John Mayer, this LP boasts only a few guest spots from Omar Apollo, Ty Dolla $ign, Mustafa, and serpentwithfeet.
Caesar says the process helped to remind him why he makes music in the first place. “For me,” he told Billboard, “it’s literally just to get these feelings off my chest. To make myself proud.”
