Rising Atlanta lyricist J.I.D drops off his latest project, DiCaprio 2, the second installment of his DiCaprio series. The album serves as his second commercial project under Dreamville, being led by a trio of singles: “151 Rum,” “Working Out,” and “Off Deez” featuring J. Cole. “Hasta Leugo,” a song that didn’t make the cut on J.I.D’s previous album, is also included as a bonus track.
DiCaprio 2 is a follow up to J.I.D’s 2017 debut, The Never Story, and includes guest features from A$AP Ferg, Ella Mai, Joey Bada$$, frequent collaborator 6LACK, and many others. The production is handled by the likes of Christo, Elite, Wondagurl, J. Cole, and the late Mac Miller.
The project is named after the American actor and film producer Leonardo DiCaprio. In a 2015 interview with Inverse, J.I.D ranked Leonardo as his favorite actor, saying “DiCaprio always stuck with me. He always has a certain passion about [his movies]. That’s the same passion I feel like I have about my music.” Several days before the album’s debut, J.I.D released the DiCaprio 2 album trailer where he impersonates DiCaprio’s lead roles in Inception, The Wolf On Wall Street, Titanic, and more.
