Durk’s seventh studio LP was originally due in February.

Lil Durk returns today with 7220, his seventh studio album since arriving on the scene in the early 2010s. The LP—which shares its name with a 2021 memoir written by Durk’s mother, Lashawnda Woodard—was originally slated to drop on February 22, but the Chicago drill star pulled an audible and pushed the record back to March.

The 2/2/22 release date would’ve pitted 7220 against Kanye West’s Donda 2. While Durk skirted that particular matchup, he’s not afraid of competition. In a recent Instagram post, Durk flat-out dared other rappers to drop albums on 3/11. In the same caption, Durk gave props to his late friend King Von for selling 65K copies of his just-released posthumous album What It Means to Be King.

7220 lands amid Durk’s ongoing beef with YoungBoy Never Broke Again. The album includes the previously released single “AHHH HA,” a diss track that prompted YoungBoy to respond with “I Hate YoungBoy.” Durk’s ally Gucci Mane then jumped into the fray with “Publicity Stunt.” 7220 also includes “Broadway Girls,” Durk’s hit 2021 collaboration with controversial country star Morgan Wallen. Summer Walker, Gunna, and Future round out the 7220 guest list.
