A little over a year after dropping his 2022 album 7220, Chicago rapper Lil Durk has returned with his latest solo effort, Almost Healed. The album marks the eighth studio album for Durk, who first stepped onto the rap scene in 2012 with Life Ain’t No Joke.
Despite his decade-long career, Durk feels like he’s still evolving as an artist, and he says that Almost Healed—which was originally titled The Voice 2.0—is all about his “growth.” “Just not only music-wise, like the things around me like I told you, growing from the friends around me, management,” he explained in an interview with XXL. “Sitting with the mayor. We doin' big charity things. Neighborhood Heroes, the foundation I got. So, we just doing different things.”
Almost Healed was originally slated to drop on May 12, but on that date, Durk instead released the single “All My Life,” featuring J. Cole. “All My Life” debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, giving Durk his biggest-ever hit as a lead artist. Other guests on the project include Future, 21 Savage, country star Morgan Wallen, and Alicia Keys, who plays Durk’s therapist on the opening skit.
