Detroit rapper Sada Baby has gained a huge online following in the past year with his eccentric metaphors and versatile voice, and he’s opening 2019 with the release of his Bartier Bounty project. It features guest appearances from Hoodrich Pablo Juan, Drego, and Ashley Sorrell.
Bartier includes “Bloxk Party,” which features fellow Detroit rhymer Drego and racked up sterling numbers online. Its music video, first released in March 2018, has more than 35 million views to date. The project was also preceded by singles “Pimp Named Drip Dat,” “Cheat Code,” and “Driple Double.”
“Bartier Bounty” has been a phrase of Sada’s for years; he released a track with that title in February 2017.
In a September 2018 interview with The FADER Sada Baby talked about why he thinks Detroit hasn’t had many artists emerge as national stars.
“Niggas from Detroit make it hard on they self. They scared to be different. In our city, everything a muhfucka do, they worried about what the next muhfucka gon’ say about them, instead of going with they flow,” he said. “Therefore, every nigga come out rapping like the next nigga, dress like him, beats like him.”
