Pop singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes shares his self-titled third album today, with features from Khalid and Julia Michaels. The 14-track project includes Mendes' recent singles “In My Blood,” “Nervous,” “Lost in Japan,” and “Youth.” Production is handled by the likes of Teddy Geiger, Scott Harris, Louis Bell, Joel Little, and Mendes himself.
In a recent interview with Billboard, Mendes cited Kanye West, Justin Timberlake, Kings of Leon, Daniel Caesar, Ed Sheeran, and John Mayer as some of the project’s inspirations. “I think [that’s] a perfect explanation as to why the music is so all over the place,” he said, “because that’s how I was listening to it at the time.”
Meanwhile, his tour mate and collaborator Julia Michaels recently told Billboard, “I think he just wants people to know who he is and how much he’s grown. We had very similar conversations, talked about relationships and where he’s at and just very personal things and it’s important to him and I think that’s amazing. And it’s important to his fans, too.”
